what's the point ?
Here’s my proposal for the “title sequence” category
As a reminder, I’m taking part in an editing competition, the aim of which is to create a title sequence for an audiovisual production from @filmsupply’s vast stock of images and @musicbed music library.
We’re working on a suspense/thriller series in the spirit of an original Canal+ creation.
If you’d like to support my application with a simple click, thank you 🙏
I wanted to go for something organic and eerie. A few animals for the plot. Viscous, aqueous liquid, eggs, cells.
From the mixture of fluids to the newborn, I introduced a few ideas to give clues to the scenario. Scenes, landscapes that induce memories or key events.
about the choices
I wanted to set off at a very fast, steady pace, varying for suspense, with music (imposed for the competition, chosen on @musicbed from a list of only ten or so pieces) at 120bpm, a little stressful.
I use cut-outs and accumulated, multiplied shapes, mirrors to support the idea of cell divisions and population development.
I play with shapes and movements for transitions – already because I love them – and because they set the rhythm while remaining fluid. Some effects @weareacidbite. The eyes follow the movement so that the gaze becomes stressed, which adds to the sense of anxiety.
For the titles and text appearances, I opted to keep things simple with a cut or a few light shaking effects, so as not to add too much to the already fast-paced editing.
For the appearance of the series title at the end, I kept it simple by combining two texts that I superimposed with a slight offset, to recall the overall idea of the series.
